Well...
When I said "Not much here so far", I meant it!!
I'll just throw in a few things that spring to mind right now, and
improve the page later. I'm mostly more concerned with making the actual
web-app work well.
- Nihongo O Narau/Learn Japanese, a pretty good resource! Covers a fair bit of subject matter.
- Jim Breen's WWWJDIC Japanese dictionary site, fairly complicated but sophisticated dictionary
web-app from the guy who compiled the big Japanese dictionary data files used
by many other Japanese dictionary websites out there.
- WAZU JAPAN's
Gallery of Unicode fonts, has a fairly big list of links to fonts with
Japanese characters in them (some of them cover other languages too), with
previews and info for each. I found the fonts I use in the Shingo Japanese
Trainer from this page! Very handy if you want to use alternative fonts on
your own computer.
- Reading Tutor,
a set of Japanese reading material and some associated tools, for students
of Japanese to practice with. Note that this is not for absolute beginners-
you will need a good ability with
Kana, a couple of grades worth of Kanji, and a reasonable amount of
vocabulary to get much out of this.
Plus some knowledge of Japanese grammar of course.
You won't get all that overnight! You may find it a pleasant challenge to
see how much of it you can recognise though.
